Wounds and healing: individual follow-up

Each wound and each person is different. Care, follow-up frequency and the related instructions are therefore decided for a specific situation by the professionals responsible for that care.

Why there is no universal instruction

The type of wound, how it is changing, current treatments and general health are among the factors considered by the care team. A direction that is appropriate for one person may not be appropriate for another. It is important to follow the prescription and the instructions you have received.

The role of follow-up

Follow-up makes it possible to observe how a situation is evolving and to adapt care as planned. Information shared with the professional caring for you can help determine whether a reassessment is needed. Do not try to reproduce at home a protocol you saw in another context.

When to seek advice

If you are concerned about how a wound is changing or about your instructions, contact the health professional responsible for your care. If you think there are serious signs or a medical emergency, call 15 or 112.

Responsible health information

Online health information should remain reliable, objective and suitable for a general audience. It cannot take the place of a consultation, a prescription or an assessment of an individual situation.

General information only: it does not replace individual medical advice.
